Our journey is a very long and expensive one, and we rely on donations to bring our shared Vision into reality.
On March 7, 2006 we start out from Vancouver driving across Canada to Sydney Cape Breton where we will begin our Walk. The van will carry seven youth and adult supporters. We need gas, food, accommodation.
Beginning early March 14, 2006 we touch the Atlantic ocean and then begin our long journey West. We will arrive in Ottawa around April 4, and on June 21, National Aboriginal Day, we will arrive at the Parliament Building in Victoria. This is a four month journey!
We must provide all of our own travel costs, gas, lodging, food, equipment, provisions and many other expenses for our adolescent walkers, staff and volunteers. Our van is old, and we need money for the inevitable repairs we will need to make along the way.
We need extra money for administration costs, advertising & literature and many more expenses that we had in previous years.
We rely solely on the generosity of our communities, businesses and agencies across Canada, to help us meet these needs.
**We also accept donations of food, accommodation, gas, calling cards, restaurant certificates, clothing, footwear, toiletries, etc. etc, which can be gifted as we pass through your community or by mailing ahead to one of our destinations.
We will be visiting more communities then we ever have before. We are making an appeal to all of our communities to support the Youth Suicide Prevention Walk on our journey.
We thank you for taking the time to consider this very important cause.
With Gratitude and Appreciation,
Vincent Watts, President
